Because it doesn't have a 3" barrel. Smaller and lighter. My 10mm 1911 just barely gives me full grip. The smallest I have is the shield 45 with the 7rd magazine. I don't have a full grip but close enough to shoot well with it.

I have the CZ P10F love it. This gun would just be a want more than a need.

I do like the 3" barrel pistols because they are imo very fast to draw and fire and bring to your next target faster.
I also have the CZ P10F. If that's what it takes to give you a full grip, you must be Sasquatch. :)

Seriously though, I just don't like full grip guns with dinky short barrels. It robs velocity and looks funny to boot. That's why I have zero use for the Glock 43x, but love my Glock 48.

I either pocket carry, which means I want a fairly short (but still 3 finger) grip and a fairly short barrel, or I belt carry a true compact. But if I belt carry at 3:00 or 4:00, barrel length is not a problem to conceal. In fact, I find that a 4" barrel on a semiauto conceals easier for me than a short barrel gun, because the longer barrel in a holster rides along my hip and prevents the grip from rocking outward from my side. A short barrel gun in a short holster, and I have to use a holster that rides low enough to prevent this, so might as well have the longer barrel. The grip is the hard part to conceal. But I understand that this could be dependent on body type as well.

That's another reason that I think red dots on pocket pistols are silly. Which is what this new Ruger is, to me. If I'm belt carrying, I'm carrying something a bit more substantial than a micro pistol.

4" barrel is hard to beat velocity wise because all non magnum calibers are about max velocity with 4-5" barrels.

I really liked the G2c. I got one to play with then fixed it up with 18rd p226 mags and a buddy loved it do he bought it. My sister liked it so I bought her one for her birthday. I ran 1000rds through it just to be sure it was as reliable as my 1st one and it was. Just a different color. She loves it with the 12rd magazine. She likes Underwood 90gr +p ammo in her G2c.

Yes my hands require XXL size gloves sometimes those are a little tight but XXXL gloves are to big finger wise so I buy XXL and deal with it.

I had a Taurus G2c, sold it to my brother when he needed a reliable pistol and didn't have one. They are a great budget option, I bet the G3c is just as good if not better.

I also am a Ruger fan, have a SR9C which was one of the first to come out with 10 round mag/grip and a 17 round with a sleeve. Also have a S&W shield gen 1 when I need something smaller. I have tried many micro hi cab guns and they just don't work with my Arthritic old hands, will want to hold this new Ruger if any are ever available.

How long before there's a recall on them?

What does Kirk say sometimes? Let a million flowers blossom? That's a bastardization of it, anyway. I'm glad that Ruger is trying to get their share.

    Same with S&W's new Shield.

They're a bit late and were caught flat-footed. But now we can kind of tell how long it takes to develop a new pistol. The time from when the Sig P365 was released until now.

    Heh, "Page not found."

New pistol frenzy + Democrat politics = Max-9 hard to find

...although Budsguns has them in stock this morning for $599 (Kinda defeats the traditional Ruger price point.)

I want to hold one in my hand before buying. Until then my LC9s will continue as EDC.
599! That would take an extremely loyal Ruger fan and early adopter to pay that lol.

I don't see owning, one for a long time anyway. Even if it the greatest gun EVER, the market is swimming with pistols like this. Every new design requires a new holster and mag carrier, that won't be competitively priced.

I do like the trend of putting all the stuff and all the options on the gun though. No more expensive time consuming gunsmithing to try an optic out. Don't like the optic? Put the plate back on and it's back to stock. You can still sell the gun without the huge investment for the optic.

I think this is probably the new standard, when i see a new semi-auto and it's not cut for an optic it already looks obsolete.

Too bad, $489 was a tad below retail.

As pointed out elsewhere here, it is nice to see innovation and choice for our EDC, but every evolution carries a cost in holsters, spare magazines, optics, etc...

ShopRuger.com has a full line of accessories to compliment the Max-9 rollout (another smart move by Ruger), but they carry the usual hefty price tags for spare mags and such.

For now I'll sit back, hope the Dems don't outlaw these types of weapons and wait for the market to calm down.

Well, this figures… I just bought a Glock 43X MOS I haven’t even shot yet. I’m a big Ruger fan, and I would much rather have this (with the manual safety). Guess I’ll be selling that Glock.

Go figure of all places to have a Max 9 a gun store/pistol range in IL. It was a rental so wasnt for sale but was able to molest it. Felt like my g3c but the grips were slicker and didn't provide that slight bite the g3c does. Seemed to be a well made Ruger otherwise. They wouldn't allow me to rent it to test out since I live in the land of the free but oh well.

Just asking, has anyone with one of these small poly pistols that have the mag bottom flush with the outside of the grip gotten a good blood blister driving home a magazine?

That happened to me with a shield.
I haven't had it happen with my Shield, knock on wood, but I did do it a couple weeks ago slamming home a 17 round mag in my 2.0 Compact. :(

    Operator error.
