Have you Had A chance to Un-cork that Kentucky Spirit How Did it Compare up to the Russels Reserve?
No Sir. I haven't had a chance yet.
It's the same mashbill as the Rare Breed and Russell's Single barrel, so I assume it'll be close to both of those with maybe a few subtle differences due to aging and blending.
I promise to open it up first chance I get and let ya know.
Find yourself around NW Hancock County, give me a shout and I'll pour ya a three finger and you can tell me Mike.

Elite Liquors labeled, house pick from Copper Mountain.
Single barrel, cask strength, high rye 118.1 proof.
Decent but young, needs to breathe a bit.
Sub $30, not bad for the price.

So picked up a bottle of Uncle Nearest 1856 100 proof. Had it once before and thought it was pretty good. About $50. Going to pop it open tonight.

    Nice timing jfed85!

I was just in the Meijer in Carmel and snagged the same thing + a Sazerac Rye. All at MSRP. $33.99 (Sazerac), $34.99 (Eagle Rare) & $59.99 (Blanton's - with a cap that I didn't already have!).

Sorry guys but only one bottle of each hit the shelves & the Eagle Rare went straight from her hand into my hand. :) Feel free to stop over for a pour sometime though.
What day and time did this occur?

Bourbons I don't care for go onto a shelf for company that insists on making mixed drinks with bourbon.................there's way too much of my money on that shelf.
I had a buddy that poured Jim Beam in an expensive looking bottle he had emptied and told the mixed drinkers this was a great bourbon blended just for mixed drinks...

Of course they all loved it...

My wife recently got an old fashioned at a local bar that she loved, it was super sweet. Like tiny umbrella tropical beach drink sweet.

Not how I like an old fashioned, but I've been trying to duplicate it for her at home with no luck.

I saw this at Meijer and figured for $4, it's worth a shot.

1oz of mixer, 2oz of Bulleit rye, a dash of bitters, and a drunken cheery. She says it's better than the one at the bar...

I'm enjoying a night flight of Wild Turkey products. I picked up a bottle of Kentucky Spirit a couple weeks ago and putting it up against Russell's 10 year, Russell's Single Barrel and my favorite, Rare Breed.
I'm gonna sort out this pecking order if it takes all night.
As of now, it's Rare Breed in the lead, Russells Single Barrel a close second and Kentucky Spirit and Russell's 10 Year fighting it out for third.
Think I may need another round to be sure.
