Holosun 407K. It might have been user error as well.
Thanks for the info. I'd like to get ahold of one of the x2 versions if they are ever readily available. I have a 365XL and as I recall those should mount to the XL with no mods, etc. Interested to hear if you have any other issues with it, etc.

Seems like it would be a fairly inexpensive way to get into a pistol optic to see if I liked it with what most consider a decent product.

I think T-dogg had one and said he liked it.

Mine is the BOG Deathgrip (aluminium)....on sale, it was less than 1/2 of the one Deacon posted.... although, he said that he got his on a great sale.

I did get it at a can't turn my back on it price. So I bought it.

It's my 'yote rig and when the winds blow I'll be using it for pigs soon, I hope.

    It's pretty cool.

Looks like Amazon has the aluminum for $140 and Carbon Fiber for $201.

I tried one of the BOG for $150.00

It didn't hold 2 of my 3 heaviest rifles.

The Reaper Grip easily holds my Tikka TAC A1 (*Heavy gun*) & POF P-308 (*pretty heavy too*)

no slippage. The BOG just couldn't be balanced and tightened enough for my weapons along with movement left right up down.

I would have liked to get the BOG for $150 if it would have worked for me - but not to be, sadly.

I do believe the BOG would work if a person was going to use only 5.56 rifles, I just didn't like the way it really wouldn't tighten down on the forearm of the rifle.

No real experience with any tripod other than the short bench one for my spotting scope and MM's.

Reading some of the reviews, seems like the Carbon Fiber is a better choice, more stable and won't dent like the aluminum if dropped/hit.

But from what you're saying, it's the weight of the rifle and the clamping ability that is a concern. Again, no dog in the fight.

I have no fighting dogs either ..... but in the case of tripods, and stability, I do have a bit of experience.
Please let me give a little explicatio en toto on the subject. ;)

This is my camera tripod. It's a Gitzo (Italian) 8X overlay carbon fiber leg-set.
I bought it about 15 years ago, when the kids finally grew-up, and I had some money for toys. It was $800. It's topped with a Markins (Canadian) ball head, that cost $400.
This setup will hold 60 lbs ..... (4) bowling balls !

What this did (before my back needed surgery) was allow me to creep along the damp, steep banks of the White River, to take photos of this pair of mated Bald Eagles. Since I took their photos over a period of about (4) years, and never saw a single other person, I'm fairly sure that I was the only one who had discovered their nest.
It was a rare experience, that I feel privileged to have been a part of. During the last two years of my photography with them, they definitely recognized me, and learned that I wasn't a threat. It is also rare to take a photo of a mated pair (in the wild) perched on the same branch ....

Carbon fiber is lightweight, and allowed me to carry it and my camera gear over precarious ground.. It also doesn't transmit vibrations to the camera.
    Mission drives the gear !

The same is true with a gun tripod, of course. For hunting, I would want no other than a carbon fiber support system, for the reasons that Spicy mentioned.

For my use, which was to open up another shooting lane at 0830's farm, my BOG tripod is quite adequate.
The BLUE MINK is heavy for an AR, so I took a 3" X 8" piece of thin foam rubber (the kind that you line a tool box with), and laid it inside the clamp on the tripod.
Whalah ..... steady, and secure as a rock !

    The End ....

That is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. You bring majesty to the eyes. Nice job man!

Been a busy day with the turkeys. Pickle Lady was off too. Bits & parts in yesterday, more later today! Picked up the Silverado. Pics later. Or none of it happened.

Feels fantastic outside in the sun.

Thanks, man .... I appreciate that !

Those eagles became my friends. I would literally start talking to them as I walked towards their home.
I was often rewarded by a close fly-by, and they would talk back, as if giving me a greeting.

Have a package from JoeBob that was orignally supposed to be here yesterday via FedEx. It's been stuck in "pending" for 2 days with no ETA. Last scan was when it left Kansas on Monday.

Hi. My name is T-Dogg Carlos Spicyweiner and I am addicted to online gun parts shopping. It has been 30 3 minutes since I last looked at parts online. In my defense, there was a sale and that's like scooting a bowl of ice cream in front of a fat kid.
