In one of my classes last week, a new to shooting student who is also an attorney asked if there may be unintended circumstances or in general what unforeseen negatives there may be to this new carry bill. I can’t think of any offhand but maybe someone could weigh in ??

Hopefully make criminal lives a little more dangerous (a negative for the bad guys).

Thanks for the info on HB 1369 and subsequent templates. I'll will be contacting my State Rep Jeff Ellington to encourage his support of this Bill. I don't get much in replies when I correspond with him and usually when I do it has nothing to do with anything I have brought up with him. Maybe it's the aids he has working for him.
It worked, he voted YES! ;)

I see we have a 39-11 majority in the Senate. Is this bill a slam dunk to pass or are there roadblocks still ahead? Basically...what happens when it gets there?

Waiting to see what Derelict Doldrum will do with it when it hits his desk.
Senate is no gimmie, but I would bet dollars to donuts Holcomb does not want to see this hit his desk. I highly doubt he would be inclined to sign it.

I am pretty new to Indiana but it is my understanding that a veto override takes a simple majority. Please correct me if I am wrong. Jim.

I posted the five "No" surprises and the one "Yes" surprise in the 2021 Leg Session thread. Waiting to see which committee it gets assigned, it'll be time to ARC LIGHT the committee members soon.

Indeed so. On his best day Hokum is a center-left statist weasel, and goes downhill from there.

Kelly what's the chances it passes out Republican controlled Senate? Then the biggest question will the Governor sign it?
As long as we don't take our foot off the gas pretty good. The assigned Senate committee has me concerned.

If Holcomb lets it sit, it passes (pocket signature in Indiana vice pocket veto in DC.) If he vetoes it (after signing Civil Immunity on the stage at the NRA Convention in 2019? He won't veto it.) simple majority to over-ride.
