The 2nd Annual Marty Brown Memorial Rifle Match is coming up next month. Marty was an instructor who battled cancer for years and finally succumbed 2 years ago; you can read more about her in the match listing. This is a "known distance" rifle match where you will be shooting the Revere's Riders "Rifle Qualification Test" at 100 to 400 yards (the same range as the NRA used for this year's High Power matches). You will shoot AQTs for half the day and run the target pits the other half. You should know your rifle and how to "dial" for distance. There will be NO instruction.

New this year will be two traveling trophies!

There will be a "High Score" trophy for the match winner as well as a "Tactifail" trophy for the person who puts the most useless crap on their rifle (if you win the match with all the crap on the rifle, even better!). Both trophies will have brass plaques for each year's winner; you will be required to bring the trophy back to the 3rd Annual Marty Brown Memorial Rifle Match in 2019 (or we WILL hunt you down!). The finishing touches are being put on these as we speak and I will post photos as soon as I have them.

Match details and tickets can be purchased on the Revere's Riders website: 2nd Annual Marty Brown Memorial Rifle Match (Camp Atterbury, IN)

IMPORTANT NOTE: you must purchase your tickets by 5pm on 10/27.

This is just 2 weeks away. Get your tickets now while it's on your mind and avoid accidentally having the ticket deadline pass. Due to Camp Atterbury regulations, we MUST provide the base a list of event participants beforehand; we can NOT sell tickets past 10/27.

Here's a photo of the almost completed "Tactifail" traveling trophy (you get to keep it for 1 year and your name is added to a brass plaque on the trophy itself). This trophy would look FANTASTIC in anyone's home!

There will also be a "High Score" traveling trophy for the match winner. That trophy is nearing completion as we speak and I will share a photo of it as soon as I have one.

Deadline for ticket purchase is this Saturday Oct. 27th at 5pm! This is due to the requirement of getting participant information to Camp Atterbury prior to the event. Get your ticket today and don't miss out on an opportunity to win one of the two custom made trophies that are new for this year (see above post for one of the trophies; photos should be available soon for the second trophy).

I’m really looking forward to this shoot and to work the pits.
I don’t get to shoot out 200, 300, 400... so Atterbury events are the bees knees for me.
Take gloves and a multi tool/pliers if you have them. Really helps in the pits.
Also who’s in since sign up has expired?

I'm in. Idk how competitive i'll be being that I spent all summer behind a PCC shooting at most 35yards, but I like to do one revere's event a year and this sounded too fun.

I'm in. I'm with you Ggreen, I haven't shot my rifle in a LONG time. I'm going to shoot my mosin Nagant sniper 1 day of the 2. It has a scope so may throw me into open category instead of milsurp (or whatever they are calling it) but I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to dope it out to 400.
I've figured out a way to rig the original sling that came with it and effectively use it like I would a USGI web sling. Well, we'll see anyway. :):

Weather is looking good so far. "Rain" Sunday looks like it is more in the evening after we are gone. As much as you can count on a forecast 3+ days out.
The real problem we will have as competitors is the Rayne that will be there both days out shooting all of us!

I just ordered up a gun and hope it shows up in time
Just found my gun and hope I can free up the bolt and get the rust off so it works....
    Keep em coming

Charlie don't give a **** about no rain!

But, it's going to be soggy still. Calling for a few inches these next couple days.
Don't worry about the wetness, them boolits are flying through the AIR!

Who's got the big roll of black pasters for me?

Looks like it will be soggy even if it doesn't rain. The ground is saturated here and i'm about 10 minutes away from the range. I was going to leave the shooting mat at home, but I think I'm going to try and keep the boys dryish and bring it with me.

I’ll be there. First time shooting on the Atterbury KD range and really looking forward to it.
    There goes the neighborhood!
Just kidding Bruce. We will have a blast.
No matter what the ballistic charts say simply don’t compare to doing the real deal with your gun and getting your own “dope”.
    These events are gamechangers:rockwoot:

    And the two winners were:
    Gopher (Tactifail Award)
    SmileDocHill (High score)
All the rest of us mere mortals are not worthy.
Enjoy the fantastic trophies and bask in your glory.
I’m already planning for next year.
A fantastic weekend of shooting and camaraderie and I look forward to seeing everyone next year if not sooner.

I believe the High Score was a three-way tie (37/40); the tie-breaker was V hits on the standard USMC dog target. SmileDocHill had a 37-11; I had a 37-4. Anyone recall who the third person was and their score (Rayne, maybe)? I was busy with other stuff at the time and didn't get that info...

For next year, you guys need to seriously up your "tactifail" game! I won the award by merely having a muzzlebrake on my rifle and nothing else. Everyone keeps telling me the damn thing is loud, but it sounds fine to me :):

Nigel, you might consider festooning your rifle with crap so you actually have a chance at winning an award (:shoot: shots fired!). That banana is DEFINITELY coming back next year (it might even be the exact same banana!).

This might rank as the most fun and enjoyable weekend I've had at the range. I met some new folks as well as a bunch of people that I see on a regular basis at RR events. To everyone that participated, thank you all for coming out, basking in the sunshine of a perfect weekend (rain didn't start until we were cleaning up the target boards) and ventilating a bunch of paper. Next year's event will be even better!

Some photos are already up at the Revere's Riders Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hitscount/albums/72157699969005532. AAR with more photos and video is forthcoming...
At the end of the weekend, I think we were all just happy to be able to utilize such a world class facility...:patriot:

I think there was a 4th with 37 but I'm not sure. I remember there being 3 with 37 then Huff mentioned another which ended up being yours gopher. I could be wrong. My brain hurt as much as my body by that time of the second day.
