Thanks, I think you really had to be here at the time I wrote the OP. Facebook had just canned all the gun/weapons related pages and the over flow was just insane. I am glad to hear feed back like this. This is a excellent online gun community that can only exist with monetary contributions and or good content that brings people to the community and keeps them here.

Ive been curious about some of the posts dated around that time. Finally I come across this one and it all makes sense

Going to bump this. Yes I know it's a sticky, don't care. It needs to pop up to the top of the list for those that ignore the sticky threads. Crap ton of new members this past week, several runners and new classified sellers that either haven't read or are ignoring the rules.

Maybe some of them will read it, doubtful, but maybe.

This is becoming relevant again. Lots of new members, several have voiced they are here for the classifieds. Since many don't read the stickies I'll bump it back up so at least it's visible.

To those that are new, enjoy the forum but remember that it's not a firearm marketplace.

It's tax time!! I sure wish these guys/gals would see this place for what it's really worth! Thanks for the bump AR.

Alright for the record I really wasn't trying to step on any toes while joining this site. I was getting around the 50 thing so I could gain full access to the site not just so I could buy a gun. I have lots of guns I'm not that desperate to buy. I completely understand your reasoning for not wanting scammers and spammers on this site. So again I really do apologize for all the random posts I was absolutely not trying to **** anyone off and I hope to become a valued member in the future. Thanks

Thank you for the well reasoned response.

    Stick around.
    Participate.
After you have your 50 "quality" posts, then you can post whatever, like most of us.
We just don't want INGO to become a armslist or gunbroker.

Can't be that great of a site, you guys let me in...lol Hope to learn some new stuff!!

No one invited you in. You found us, not the other way around. But do get the opportunity to make this a better place. But I am guessing you are just a late bloomer seeing how you haven't found the need to participate in 5 years? Or could it be something shiny in the ads section caught your eye?

I actually have been in Michigan and on MGO, I participated on there, but moved back to Induana and got back on here the other day.

    Welcome back.

Thanks! I am glad to be back. Edwardsburg was ok, but just glad to be back in the Hoosier state. Makes range time at my brother in laws, a lot further of a drive. He and my sister live in Edwardsburg and he put in a range, in his back yard. Im now 40mins away. Good news is, Kodiak is 5mins away.

    need some help here
When i first joined INGO, i will openly admit, my main interest was to browse through the ads. I soon realized the content from the threads exceeded my expectations and i enjoy contributing.
Well, turns out i went from having around 65 posts on Saturday, to 16 on Sunday. Can anyone explain this to me?
I read about (and agree) with the rules on INGO posting. I don't believe that my postings were short or didn't provide value. I even started my own threads on several topics and have received multiple (very helpful) replies from INGO members.
Just looking for some clarity on the situation and potentially some help I guess....not sure if i am doing something wrong to be honest

If your post were one line comments they were delete because they were deemed not quality content. I am sure a mod will be along to soon to comment.

Also, a lot of post in a short time frame sends up a red flag.

    THIS!

You may not have intended to run for the classifieds, but it may have been perceived as such given the totality of circumstances.

And mods can see all activity; so visits to the classified sections can also contribute to the big picture.

It's tax time. Runners will be coming out as usual this time of year. I saw some of his post last night. He was at 15-16 then I think. I looked threw them and at that time his posts did not look bad. That was either after he was dinged or just before the sprint.

FYI to all: $20 gets you access to the chassified's. Please take the time to read my first post and please take it to heart. We aren't picking on you.

    Welcome my friend!
You will be fine, only 31 more posts to go. :ingo:

The content of your posts are glaringly obvious whether you perceive them as long enough or not, hence the term "quality posts". If you are "running" for the classifieds, its kind of hard to hide unless you make a concerted effort to add to the forum.

What you (and other new folks) may not understand is that a lot of long time members here frequently subscribe to a lot of threads. When new folks run for the classifieds, they are often posting in threads that other members are subscribed to, filling up their email inboxes with notifications of new thread content. When that content is not helpful and a waste of time... Well, hopefully you can see.

I saw most of your posts as you were posting. I read INGO from the "new posts" page and every new post is bumped to the top. What I saw were rapid fire posts every minute or so, sometimes even a couple of posts within the same minute timestamp. They were short one line, sometimes only a couple of word, posts. Lots of them in the game type threads. The posts had no substance and were only designed to increase your post count. Those were the posts that were eliminated. The intent became clear as soon as you hit your 50 posts and went straight to the classifieds.

We are very protective of the forum and it's members. If you haven't done so already, read the first couple pages of this thread. It will explain things very well and will help you understand.

As was mentioned, it's coming up on tax time and soon INGO will be FULL of new members that are only interested in the classified section. They will come and spew garbage posts all over the forum so they can run up their post count and try to grab that "great deal they just can't live without and must have RIGHT NOW". They will not care how it disrupts the forum, they will have no intention of becoming part of the community, they will have no desire to return to the forum in the future. It happens every single year at this time.

My advice if you really want to be a part of the forum is to pick a few topics and join the conversation, not a single post in a thread, actually stick around and discuss things. Put some thought into it and stay away from the one liners. You can also become a site supporter. There's lots of information here if people take the time to use it.

I also think if you're selling something for $20,000, you could "splurge" for a site supporter status, especially if your post count is 2 digits.
