Just a little bit of information to anyone that's new and finds their way to this thread. You may wonder why all this talk and why are these rules are in place. As has been said many times and in many places, This is not Armslist, Gunbroker, Craigslist, or ARFCOM. INGO is more than just a forum, it's a community. Members here are protective of our community. There are lots of people here who have met or are friends outside of the website. When bad things happen we join in and help out. When good things happen we share that as well. I would take 5 friends here vs 1000 Facebook friends.

The other members will understand this better than the new ones will, but let me ask you a couple of questions anyway.


What does this stand for?

Who is this?

Any clue at all? How was INGO involved?

These things, and so many others, are what make us a community. These things are what make us protective of it. You are welcome to join our community. However if your only reason for being here is because you saw something shiny in the classifieds that you must have right now, or you are here to try and fleece us with things you can't sell on Facebook anymore, then the teeth will come out. Instant gratification is not what this place is about.












The answers to the questions listed above are:

1. The blue light as an avatar is in remembrance of law enforcement officers who have been lost. INGO has quite a few officers among the membership from all over the state.

Browsing new posts today I ran across another example of why INGO is a great place and why we are so protective of it. Here is a member that's giving away a youth rifle for a child to learn the shooting sports with. He's doing it for free and is not asking for anything in return. This is not the first time he's done this.

AR is so right.

When you run right in the the middle of our house and wipe your feet you are just being rude. Hang at the entry way a bit. Learn a bit about the people that wander this place. You haven't spent enough time here to earn that shiny new toy on the classifieds. If you miss out on it, don't worry. There is always something new posted later.

Your time here will not end well if you go down the wrong path. This place can give you a lot more then you realize.

If your sole reason to post in this forum is because you see something in the classifieds just stop right now. Think it over. You will be rewarded long term for any good efforts you put in to this place. If don't follow the rules you will be shunned and or banned.

This is a very good thread. My hopes are the new members will do a better job at taking advice than I did when I first joined INGO.

If we changed the classifieds participation requirement to six months on the forum and 200 quality posts this runner thing would disappear. The forum overall would be a better place, including the classifieds.

INGO is a community. As such, it is important that we, at a minimum, make an effort to get along with one another. For this reason, among others, the INGO staff does not tolerate the use of racial slurs, overt sexual imagery, bullying, or insults covert or overt.

Look, we know that misunderstandings occur. People write things that upset other people. These things can be handled with an element of openness and grace, or they can be handled...more poorly.

We all win when we try to work together. We have the opportunity to learn from each other and hopefully share our knowledge with others. That isn't going to happen when we call each other bad names. We don't do that here.

Here on INGO, that kind of thing gets you banned.

There would have to be some mechanism in place for those like our latest shooter that have been here for years, but never saw the need to participate until something shiny appeared in the classifieds. I think it would be better all around to just make the Classifieds a site supporter perk, but only after x month(s) of membership.
