This is a really sad note for our country, We are unraveling more each day.

KEENE, N.H. (AP) — The city of Keene, N.H., has sued a group that feeds change into parking meters that are about to expire, saying members are harassing enforcement officers.

The group calls itself "Robin Hood of Keene." Members walk city streets with rolls and dimes of quarters to feed the meters.

WMUR-TV reports (Keene accuses Robin Hood group of harassment | Local News - WMUR Home) the city accuses the group of interfering with officers' work. It asks them to stay at least 50 feet away.

The group records its time outside and posts videos online, sometimes showing members following the officers.

The city says one officer suffered stress, anxiety and heart palpitations from the group's actions.

Group member Garret Ean says he's not trying to cause any medical problems. He says he tries to keep a good demeanor with all the parking meter enforcers.

These are the people responsible for the term "Wookie Suiter"!!!

I will miss their videos. Although I imagine the protests against this silly decision will be quite entertaining.

So since this group started feeding the meters ,the revenue from parking tickets has dropped off enough that the city officals have noticed they don't have as much of other peoples money to spend.

I would say this is closer to the truth than ,an officer had heart palpitations.

I can see a new "Cool Hand Luke' Movie or a new "Alice's Resturant" song over this.

"What we got here is falure to comunicate" (He got arrested for cutting of parking meter heads)

"What's ya in for son?" reply "Putting dimes in parking meters".

A peaceful revolution at the polls is necessary at EVERY future election. These "tax and spend" officials need to be booted from office the old fashioned legal way! Outrageous!

Due to standard tax revenues being down as less people are working and paying taxes, cities, towns, etc are finding new and imaginative ways to make up for the revenue "loss" as if it was their money to start with.

^^^^ Exactly! It isn't their money and all the schemes they come up with to "enhance" revenue is nothing more than preying on the very citizens who live there. why should the town care if some good Samaritan puts a quarter into the parking meter? Obviously the regular meter rate isn't sufficient to fund whatever they need funding for. Those fees and fines for illegal parking sure go a lot further!!!

It helps me to keep in mind what state is involved. Like the Governor in MD taxing people on the amount of rainfall on their property.

New Hampshire is one of the last outpost of freedom on the east coast, and much different than MD. Not saying its the ideal model for liberty, but "Live free or die" still rings true for many folks there. This group of guys are evidence of that, even if what they are doing is done in the sake of fun. Parking meters are simply taxation through citation, and its nice to see folks take note of it.

The real reason is because they are actually losing money because they cant write tickets and collect the huge fines. By doing something good they are actually causing the gov't to lose money. no matter what the gov't will do what it can to take more and more of our money, i.e. speeding tickets on 465!!! Lets say a ticket costs 100 bucks, if 4 tickets are written per day, and lets say only 3 of them actually paid, thats 300 bucks a day, times 20 working days a month = $6000 per month, not to mention that so much of our tax dollars already go to them!! The idea they want to convey is dont mess with the gov't's money.

I've seen the same mentality in elected officials right here in our state. There have been numerous articles in the local fish wraps about school systems crying because they aren't getting "their share" of the take.

I'm sure if you figure a way to cut into ISPs (or any other agency that has time to run speed traps) time on the highway writing tickets, they'd find something to burn you on, too.

And now there is a movement afoot to lower the legal limit for DUI to .05. Is this to save lives, or another revenue generator?
