I would like to see what goes on first though.

I am currently teaching my Wife how to shoot as well (She had not touched a Firearm until we started working with her on a GSG-1911 and a .22 Rifle.). I mainly want to expose her to the Culture and Atmosphere while we are building her confidence and abilities.
Don't come watch the event I'm shooting in, I'm shy!

I'll be the guy shooting a Liberty SKS. How's that for irony?

    Money keeps me from going

What do you have in your safe or on your shelves that's worth $100? You can have enough for the class, lunch, and a gallon of gas. ;) Seriously, the class is worth the money.

Already sold my shotgun, hanging onto my kimber and k31. Heck, I don't even have a safe... :dunno:

You can always borrow a rifle at the range. Just let the instructors know you will need a loaner. You can even borrow my Ruger 10-22 if you would like.

Just wanted to give this post the attention is deserves. I have NEVER met this man in my life, and he is offering the above. Thank you very much Que. I have another member willing to pay my way as well. There are some good guys here, and I don't want them to go unappreciated. I'll make time for Appleseed.

So, who else hasn't attended an Appleseed?

What's keeping you from joining us on the firing line?

I'm in grad school and can't really take a whole weekend off from studying to play with guns. A few hours or maybe even a whole day could be doable, but not the whole weekend.

It will be on my list when I'm done with school though.

Understood. And if you find that you just can't wait, there's a single day Saturday event coming up at MCF&G in Indy on May 19th. ;)

you can also just show up for a single day. you don't have to go for both. it's 40 dollars for a single day. saturday would be your best bet as that is when most all the instructions are :)

Tread Carefully, the shoot boss brought his two sons age 7 & 9(?), to their first Appleseed.. I was paired up with 7 Jr old doing some frills Sunday morning. I learned a lot working with him. Especially enthusiasm. We also had lunch h together which h was great. I really enjoyed everything else equally. Great instruction, storytelling, and the explanations of why things are done a certain way. Way too many programs tell you what to do and leave out the why. I like why!

I should also point out that the historical information told during an Appleseed and that comes from the book Paul Revere's Ride provides quite a perspective of the sacrifices made. People today don't have any idea of the internal qualities people had back then to survive, much less fight for their freedom against what could be described as overwhelming odds. Think about it this way. We have instant communication between individuals and groups. Back in that day absolute fastest way to deliver a message to an individual was riding a horse. If a written message was sent that was written with a quill pen and ink. I would almost bet that nobody who reads this post has ever done that in their life. I know I haven't. Think about the time it would take to write a message.

Most of the people who responded to the Battle of Lexington were normal people with the normal obligations of the time. Firearms for them were not hobbies and interest. They were just a tool used to hunt and protect themselves. There was no "tacticool" crap being sold. Just a musket, powder, and lead. I remember reading many biographies 45 years ago. Many of the heroes of those times learned to shoot by being given 1 bullet to go hunting. If they missed they didn't eat. These were kids who today would be in middle school.

People don't really get the sacrifice our forefathers made.

I also clicked in my brain and remembered my uncle did a genalogical search of our paternal family history. I learned that I am a direct descendent of a passenger on the Mayflower who survived and lived through that experience. That click on my brain gave me some humility and pride that it is very possible I had a descendant who fought in the Battle of Lexington. I am going to try and follow up to find out if I did.

I would love to attend, unfortunately my wife works every other weekend and they always seem to be on the wrong weekends. :xmad:

Have you thought about a weekend getaway to a location that has one. If she doesn't want to attend maybe there is something else she might want to do in the area. There's one in Niles, MI July 7 & 8 and this area has a lot of things a wife might like to do. Beach, antique shopping, casino, etc.

The same applies to other areas that might be within and a few hours drive for you.
