Man, just a couple of days in and the lunacy has already started. Jim Tomes, (a pretty good gun rights politician) has decided to introduce a bill that would allow government schools to foist "The Lords Prayer" on students in the course of their daily indoctrination. At least he included a fiscal impact statement. Hope he figured in the cost of the lawsuits that will occur. Nope. He didn't. The impact statement is to decide which sects version of the prayer will be used. Maybe he's not as smart as we thought he was. If folks want their kids to pray to the christian god in school then let them send them to religious schools or home school.

    Ahhhhh....religion!!!

Seriously...I'm a Christian, and agree that force of government should not be used to push the views of a specific religion, or religion at all.

That said, I don't believe public schools should exist at all, that pesky provision of the Indiana Constitution notwithstanding.

I'm sorry, but don't we have a lot bigger problems? Why is an elected official even wasting his time on this? If he just wants to pick a fight I can think of plenty of other areas that need his attention. I like the Senator, I really do, but please stop with this.

Precisely. He was elected by the TEA Party. Last time I checked, stuff like this wasn't even on their radar. Guess things are changing and they didn't get quite what they thought they were getting.
