BSUrugger had the idea of getting together with some INGO'ers on motorcycles and heading to a restaurant for a ride & meet & eat. Somebody threw out the idea of making it into a poker run and, well... That's how we got the first annual (we hope) Shooters on Scooters INGO poker shoot, motorcycle ride & meet & eat. There will be custom t-shirts, prizes, and possibly some INGO swag!

There are lots of details to share so get comfy... This is gonna be a long post!

    When: Sunday, August 21st, 0900-1800

Where: Eagle Creek Pistol Range, Atterbury Shooting Complex, and the fine city of Bloomington

    Route: UPDATED INGO ride

Cost: $25 +Lunch in Bloomington (Includes t-shirt, entry to all three poker shoots, and a $10 charity donation)

We will be meeting at Eagle Creek Pistol Range around 0900. Between 0900 and 1015 we will have the first poker shoot. You don't have to show up RIGHT at 0900, but we would like to try and wrap up all the poker shooting by 1015 so we can announce a winner and get out of there on time. If everything goes smoothly we will have a quick briefing and roll out at 1030 sharp to head for the Atterbury range. This portion of the ride will be mostly interstates and highways. We've allotted the same amount of time at Atterbury to shoot, chat, and whatnot. Hopefully we'll leave Atterbury around 1300 for a nice twisty ride to Nashville. We will be stopping at a gas station in Nashville for gas/drinks/potty breaks and more chatting. From there we will ride some more scenic curvy roads into Bloomington for lunch. [STRIKE]We don't have a restaurant in mind, but hopefully it will be somewhere relatively cheap.[/STRIKE] UPDATE: We will head to Mother Bear's Pizza, an award winning pizzeria, for lunch. You will have to pay for your own meal. After lunch (1550 if the plan holds up) we will ride back to ECPR. The last riding portion will be a mixture of scenic curvy roads and interstate/highway riding. Once we're at ECPR we will have the final poker shoot. The ride is a total of 160 miles, with one stop for gas. If you would like to shoot at ECPR or Atterbury aside from the poker shoot there will be reduced range prices available the day of the event (see below).

The "poker shoot" part of this event is going to be a variation of a classic motorcycle poker run. Typically, a group of motorcyclists rides to five different locations and each person draws one card at each location. The person with the best poker hand at the end of the day wins a prize. But this is INGO, so we decided to spice it up a bit ;) Instead of drawing cards we figured it would be a good idea to shoot for cards! There will be three separate poker shoots during this ride. One at ECPR in the morning, one at the Atterbury Shooting Complex, and a final one at ECPR at the end of the day. Here's how the poker shoot will work:

Each person will have one target with a full deck of 52 playing cards printed on it (actual size). You will shoot five shots (or as many shots as necessary to hit five cards) to make your poker hand. Sounds easy, right? Here's the catch: the cards will be facing away from you! You'll be shooting at the back of the cards, so the most accurate shooter doesn't walk in and clean up all three shoots. Right now, Guy (Tactical Firearms Training) is offering one 10-visit pass to ECPR for each of the three winners. That's a $75 value! There might be some INGO swag as well... *cough* If Fenway would respond to my PMs *cough*.

At each of the three range visits there will be an opportunity to do some shooting aside from the poker. You will still have to pay range fees, but both ranges have offered us a discounted price to shoot. Guy will be offering all day range passes (normally $25) to riders for $10 on the day of the event. He is also allowing us to shoot privately at ECPR from 5-6PM (but you have to pay for the range pass). While we are at the Atterbury range you will be able to shoot at the cost of $4 per lane (instead of $6 per lane). These are optional shooting opportunities. Ammunition is available for purchase at both ranges if you need it. The cost of admission covers the shooting you will be doing for the poker shoot. If you choose not to do any additional shooting you don't have to! We will all be hanging out and chatting about guns and bikes anyways.

The $10 charity donation was proposed by BSUrugger in memory of his close friend and colleague Eric Wells. Eric passed away when an intoxicated police officer crashed into a group of motorcycles almost a year ago. We would like to honor his memory by donating $10 of every entry fee to a charity that Eric supported when he was alive. The charity is called Jerry's Kids; a charity that provides week-long summer camps for children with muscular dsytrophy. Out of respect for Eric we would appreciate it if everyone kept their thoughts of the incident to themselves. This isn't meant to be a political charity ride, just a thoughtful gesture for a friend that is no longer with us.

You will need to bring eye & ear protection, ammo (unless you plan to purchase it at the range), $25 for the event, and some money for lunch in Bloomington. This is somewhat of an open carry event; you don't have to OC, but if you prefer to avoid large groups of people OC'ing you might be more comfortable somewhere else. ECPR does not permit loaded firearms to be carried on their property. There will be a clearing barrel at the entrance for those who need it. Atterbury Shooting Complex does not permit holstered weapons at the range. You will be allowed to unholster/unload in the parking lot before you enter the range. This might ruffle some peoples' feathers (I'm not the biggest fan) but these are safety rules and we must comply with them. Your ability to resist whining about the rules will be much appreciated. :): Guests are welcome, but we don't need a huge turnout of 400 riders. Bringing a friend or two is fine, just don't show up with your whole motorcycle club. This is still an INGO event. There will be no charge for passengers who are not participating. Some details have yet to be finalized, such as where we will eat and whether or not we will have a police escort through town ;) If you have questions you may either PM me or post the question here.

Last, but not least, please respond to this thread if you are attending. Let us know what size t-shirt you need too. To keep excess shirts to a minimum we will be placing the order for shirts on August 9th. PLEASE leave your shirt size here BEFORE midnight of August 8th. After this time we cannot guarantee you will get a t-shirt in your size. If you are bringing others let us know how many you're bringing and how many of them will be participating so we will have targets and shirts for them too.

Would it be possible to purchase a shirt without being there?
I'd make a donation if thats possible.
I think this is a great thing to do, just wish I could be there.

I'm in and Large please. I'm going to have to meet you all in Bloomington, but will pay the full price anyways and the extra cash can go to the charity. Whenever you guys figure out the eating destination, please let me know so I can plan accordingly. Thank and looking forward to the ride!

I don't think this ride is that big! There is a ride on the 6th for the one year anniversary memorial ride for the victims on August 6th.
