So INGOer mjrducky has recently acquired several new NFA items. When he needed a place to test out these new "toys", I invited him down to lovemywoods' range. What I didn't anticipate was that he wanted some pictures and videos of the toys while someone else was shooting them.

    Naturally, I volunteered. :D

For this range trip we had several goals:

    • Test mjrducky's new Gemtech Halo 5.56 suppressor
    • Test mjrducky's new Thompson Machine Zephyr XL .22LR suppressor
    • Test mjrducky's new Gemtech MultiMount 9mm suppressor
    • Test mjrducky's new S&W M&P45 in new Raven holster
    • Document with pictures and video
Testing host was mjrducky's Colt M16A1 with an LMT 10.5" upper and Spikes Tactical dedicated .22LR upper, as well as his Bushmaster carbon 9mm SBR. Later I also tossed his Halo onto my 16" Bushmaster M4.

    The gear

The targets we used were custom made by INGOer Citronman1980. You can find out more about them here: https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/general_firearms_discussion/109368-new_targets_i_made.html

First, we started with the M16 to get a baseline of what we'd be working with.

    IMG_1313.jpg

Then we went "quiet" with the Halo.

Next up was the Bushmaster 9mm. Unfortunately I don't have a picture with the suppressor attached.

Then we moved on to the Spikes .22. Canless.

    IMG_1322.jpg

    Then with the Zephyr XL.

It sounded like a sewing machine. :rockwoot:

Then, of course, I just HAD to try the Halo on my own M4. BAD IDEA!! :D;):D

mjrducky was also able to fit in some quality time with his new M&P45.

For the finale, we decided to dump a 150rd drum mag through the M16. We giggled like little girls. :D

This trip also provided me the opportunity to test out several other pieces of gear that I've been wanting to get out to the range. Those reports will be posted in their respective forums in the next week.

Although there was a chill in the air, we all had an excellent time. A big thanks goes to mjrducky for making lovemywoods and me his guinea pigs for the day. :ar15: :rockwoot:

Nice write up esrice and thanks to lovemywoods for the time and place to try these toys out.

I have put together a few videos of my own.

First is the 9MM SBR and there is a picture of it in the video.

Next is the video of the M16.

And who doesnt want to see the M16 with the mag dump one more time from a different angle?

Did you use subsonic in the Bushy 9MM SBR with the Multimount???

I do not recall. mjrducky should know.

And I will also note that the red dot in that video was not zero'd, so I was searching for point-of-impact on those pins-- I'm not that bad of a shot. :D

Are you sure your not that bad of a shot?

Esrice is right I did not get around to zeroing in the red-dot by the time we did this. They were "close". :D

    Barrel a little warm?:)

You know esrice and lovemywoods can give their :twocents: But my impession was it was hot, but not "smoking" hot by any means after that mag dump. Now when the supressor was on it it was smoking for a few minutes on just the 30 round mag. But I would say the barrel worked very well after that with the heat. The upper has a daniel defense rail so possibly the air holes in it help to cool it as well? :dunno:

It was hot, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary for the type of shooting we were doing. The gun and barrel handled it like a champ.
