BOY, CC SURE IS COLD AT TIMES !!

Where I work at, I'm not allowed to carry because of policy, so I purchased a Hornaday lock box to put my EDC in during the time I'm in the building. I can not think of anything colder to have to put down my pants than an ICE COLD holster with a weapon made with metal parts!! Any suggestions to help this issue. Can't quit. Can't bring it in & store it. WON'T leave it at home. It is a metal lock box with padding inside, TSA approved. I thought about maybe wrapping it in a heavy rug or blanket. Any other ideas out there?

Shoot a few rounds off in the parking lot to warm it up before holstering.








I have the same problem but the last few winters I've been using my auto start to keep the car warmed up.
It helps a little.

Do they make those for smaller firearms? That would never fit as is. There's just enough room for my XDS & my extra mag, though I don't have to put the mag in there.

It works. I wear an undershirt all year long now. It's very comfortable. And it keeps sweat away from your gun in the summer, and keeps the cold metal away from your body in the winter.

I'd try insulating the interior of the box with styrofoam.
Basically make a cooler out of it.

No, but when I remove my firearm(s) to enter prohibited places, I remove the holster with the pistol in it... I guess I'm just a little more safety conscious. The four rules are there for a reason Kirk.

That is what I was going to suggest. The small 2 pack of hand warmers cost a buck or so. They stay warm for about 8 hours. One in lockbox will take the edge off.

I guess I never realized how lucky I am where I work. I'm allowed to carry mine into the building and carry it on my person the whole day concealed or open. I choose to put it in my toolbox as I work with sheet metal and I really don't want a sheet of metal slicing the crap out of my pistol. -Jason
